Egress Switch

We are using a new solution for sending confidential information securely via email and file transfer: Egress Switch.

Why are we using Switch?

We have chosen to use Switch in order to comply with data protection regulations and ensure that when information needs to be shared, it is done so securely.

No organisation can afford to ignore the financial and legal consequences of a breach in data security, nor the impact upon its reputation amongst customers, suppliers, employees and the wider business community that this would have. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), who are responsible for ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act in the UK, have the power to levy fines of up to £500,000 for data losses and breaches. This is relevant to way we exchange information, as the ICO have stated:

“The loss of personal data transferred in an unencrypted form will be treated as a serious breach and enforcement action will be taken.”

What do you need to do when you receive a Switch email?

In order to access information sent to you via Switch, please register for a free account by clicking on the ‘New User’ link in the email you received, or by logging in with your Switch ID and password.

Using Switch, you can respond to and initiate secure correspondence with us and other paying subscribers free of charge.

You can also access the ‘Egress Switch Recipient Guide’for more information.

Egress Switch certifications and accreditations

As the first, and currently only, CESG CPA Foundation Grade email encryption product, Egress Switch Secure Email has been certified by the UK Government to enable public and private sector customers to share official and official-sensitive data over the internet, without the need to manage third party credentials.

Egress Software Technologies is also certified to the ISO 27001:2013 standard, which serves as the international benchmark for information security management, and outlines how to implement and uphold an independently assessed and certified information security management system.
