3 hours verifiable CPD

Whether you are currently a Child Welfare Reporter (CWR) or interested in becoming one, this seminar will cover the essential elements everyone needs to know.

Over the course of three hours our expert speakers will provide an update on the current implementation of the Children (Scotland) Act 2020, and outline the registration process and requirements for becoming a CWR. The course will also explore the responsibilities of the role and offer practical advice on preparing high-quality reports. Attendees will gain valuable perspectives on what courts expect from CWR reports from an active Sheriff, and be provided with specialist guidance on how to effectively communicate with children, particularly those with neurodiversities.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Bring yourself up to speed with the current state of implementation of the Children (Scotland) Act 2020 relevant to Child Welfare Reporters
  • Hear about best practice tips for producing high-quality reports
  • Learn about the skills required to communicate effectively with children, including approaches tailored to neurodiverse needs
  • Receive first hand insight and advice from a Sheriff that works with CWRs regularly
