Join us for an hour-long webinar preparing you for April 1st 2025, when the Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Act 2023 (MTA), comes into force.

Hamish Patrick, Partner at Shepherd and Wedderburn, will deep dive into three of the most important changes with the MTA: 1) the modernisation of the law of assignation and the introduction of the new ‘Statutory Pledge’; 2) the introduction of the new Register of Assignations and Registers of Statutory Pledges; and 3) the new choices businesses will have to leverage their moveable property to obtain finance. This session will be essential to provide timely advice to clients regarding updates brought by the MTA, and time will be allotted for Q&A with the speaker and fellow colleagues.

Learning Outcomes

  • Bring yourself up to speed with the MTA’s new assignation and pledge regimes ahead of April 1st
  • Gain an in depth understanding of the changes that will be implemented with the MTA
  • Discuss the new opportunities for clients arising from these changes
