It has been one year since the Online Safety Act 2023 became law in the United Kingdom. This introduced a series of new criminal offences in England and Wales, and the offence of encouraging or assisting serious self-harm which extends to Scotland.
Much of the Online Safety Act 2023 will only come into effect once OFCOM publishes their regulatory guidelines, the draft proposals of which are expected in early 2025.
