Employees have the right to a consultation with their employer before being made redundant. Employers who do not provide this run the risk of action for unfair dismissal. With the Employment Rights Bill nearing the end of its journey through Parliament, we are looking at the current state of the law on redundancy consultations and how this could change.
Learning outcomes:
- Refresh your knowledge of the current law on collective redundancies.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the proposals for reform in this area.
- Develop your understanding of the potential impact of the Employment Rights Bill on your rights, or the rights of your clients and employees.
- Gain confidence in advising employers and employees on their rights and responsibilities throughout the redundancy process.
