While we wait for updates to the crofting law reform proposals, new statutes are coming into force with significant implications for rural land law. Our webinar will discuss recent legal changes to agriculture and environmental law and highlight potential changes to watch for in crofting and land reform.

Delivered by Jamie Whittle, Partner at R&R Urquhart and Convenor of the Rural Affairs and Environmental Law Sub-Committees at the Law Society of Scotland, this session will explore current issues across these areas including relevant case law, the Agricultural and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act 2024 and the Wildlife Management and Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024. It will also consider the anticipated changes from the consultation on crofting law reform, and impact of the Land Reform (Scotland) Bill. Time will be provided for discussion and questions with the speaker and your colleagues alike.

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn about updates to rural land law including those brought by the Agricultural and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act 2024 and the Wildlife Management and Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024
  • Gain insight into the relevant case law that is shaping this field
  • Stay up to date on the Government’s crofting law reforms and key legislation such as the upcoming Land (Scotland) Reform Bill
