Breaking barriers — New partnership event to improve the legal profession for people with disabilities

Scotland's first and only charity established to support disabled students entering the Scottish legal profession is teaming up with the Faculty of Advocates.
Disabling Barriers Scotland is inviting members of the profession to join together to discuss how to break down barriers and widen access for people with disabilities.
On Thursday, September 25 the charity, in conjunction with the Faculty of Advocates, is hosting a conference to tackle these issues.
Attendees will receive a four-hour CPD certificate.
A spokesperson said: "We are aiming to create conversation, raise awareness and offer practical methods for increasing access to justice for disabled people and representation of disability in the Scottish Legal Profession.
"Please note there is a maximum capacity for this event, so early registration is encouraged."
The agenda includes an introduction by Dhana McIver and Felix Boon, as well as a keynote address reflecting on equality, law and social justice by Professor John McKendrick.
Other sessions will focus on deaf awareness and communications as well as discussion of lived experience.
