Roadshows roll out
As we approach the final countdown to the designated day in December, Registers of Scotland is preparing to host a series of 2012 Act roadshows to provide support and guidance to solicitors in advance of the changes to the registration process.
The designated day for the 2012 Act has been set for 8 December 2014. This day will mark the biggest change to property registration for a generation. Our roadshows will be held across the length and breadth of Scotland this autumn, helping you get to grips with the key changes in just one day. There’s no more effective way to get prepared.
Hosted by John King, director of business development at RoS, and supported by members of the 2012 Act Implementation Team, the roadshows aim to provide a practical guide to successful registration in the run-up to the designated day. The RoS team will also be joined in each location by representatives from the Law Society of Scotland, who will provide their view on the changes to conveyancing practice. The majority of the roadshows are now sold out, but there are limited spaces still available in Aberdeen, Fort William, Dumfries and Shetland.
If you are unable to attend one of our roadshows, or have been unable to reserve a space, please be assured that practical guidance will be published on the 2012 Act website in the run-up to 8 December.
If spaces become available at any of the roadshows, we will notify you with a 2012 Act update email. If you would like to sign up for event update notifications and other 2012 Act alerts, please go to the 2012 Act website at www.ros.go.uk/2012act
Senior appointment at RoS
We are pleased to welcome Dr Janet Egdell as our new operations director and accountable officer. Janet replaces Catriona Hardman, deputy keeper, who retired in August.
Janet will be responsible for running the business, to complement John King’s new role as business development director. She will act as senior information risk owner (SIRO) and will be responsible for the leadership of business and corporate services functions, including registration, finance, ICT and corporate services.
Janet has worked in the Scottish Government (SG) since 1999, including a year at HM Treasury. Before joining us, her most recent role was as head of the infrastructure investment unit in the SG finance directorate.
