BLACKADDERS solicitors, Dundee, Perth, Arbroath, Forfar, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, has appointed Fraser Hardie, who joins the firm from LINDSAYS, to head the firm’s Edinburgh office, working within the commercial property group; Joanne Grimmond, partner in the residential property department in Dundee, to head the Perth office; and Ryan McKay, partner and head of the dispute resolution team, to lead the office in Aberdeen. Gail Clarke has also joined the firm as a director in its rural land and business department. She was previously with TODS MURRAY.
BRECHIN TINDAL OATTS solicitors (bto), Glasgow and Edinburgh, has announced the promotion of Karina McShane, of its Insurance Personal Injury team, and Jilly Petrie, of its Construction and Engineering team, to partner. Claire Mills has also joined the latter team as an associate from BURNESS PAULL LLP.
BRODIES, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, announces that onshore renewables and commercial property specialist Kirsty Macpherson is to join its real estate department as a partner. She moves from GILLESPIE MACANDREW.
BURNESS PAULL, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, has added to its health, safety and environment (HSE) division with a partner appointment. Ray Gribben joins the Glasgow office from DLA PIPER.
BURNETT & REID LLP, Aberdeen, has announced promotions and new appointments, effective from 1 January 2015. James Herbertson is assumed as a partner in the Agricultural Department. Also joining the partnership board are the firm’s estate factor, Shane Greig, who will act in an advisory capacity, and its new practice manager, Helen Strachan, a former tax specialist with PwC, who will serve as a financial adviser to the firm and as secretary to the board. Rosemary O’Neill, who recently joined the firm to lead the Court Department, is promoted to associate. The firm also announces that Alastair Robertson, senior partner for the last 18 years, has moved to a consultancy role within the firm.

GILLESPIE MACANDREW, Edinburgh and Perth, has announced the promotion of two new associates, Fiona Cameron in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution team, and Amy McDowell in the Commercial Property department.
GILSON GRAY, Edinburgh and Glasgow, has appointed Craig Darling as a partner and head of business restructuring and recovery. He joins from HBJ GATELEY.
