There are also nine promotions to a new managing associate role: Ricky Cannon (business disputes & asset recovery), Suzanne Hopkinson (energy & infrastructure), David Jack (commercial real estate), Graeme Leith (land & rural business), Sarah-Jane McArthur (energy & infrastructure), Paul McLaughlin (corporate & commercial), Siobhan Sullivan (personal injury), Paul Wallace (retail & leisure, real estate) and Morna Walton (commercial real estate). Six newly promoted associates are Ian Gibson (commercial real estate), Gillian Mair (employment), Adam McKinlay (insurance & risk), Fiona Scott (land & rural business), Isla Stewart (energy & infrastructure) and Lindsay Watson (personal
& family).
BRODIES LLP announces that accredited family law specialists Shaun George, Richard Smith and Lisa Girdwood join the personal & family department on 1 June 2015 from SIMPSON & MARWICK. They bring with them their 12-strong team, including associates Donna McKay, Lydia McLachlan and Nicola Kerr, senior solicitor Susie Mountain and solicitors Zoe Wray, Rachael Latcham and Louise Borrowman.
CAMPBELL SMITH LLP, Edinburgh, announces that Robert Dobie has joined the court department as director: restructuring and litigation as from 1 May 2015, Lorraine Tollan has been promoted to associate solicitor specialising in commercial property, and Gary Middlemass has joined its property department as valuer.
DAVIDSON CHALMERS, Edinburgh, announces the appointment of Simone Young, formerly with LINDSAYS, as its new head of construction.
DWF, Edinburgh, Glasgow and elsewhere, has appointed Moray Thomson, formerly head of planning at MACROBERTS, as a real estate partner to its planning team in Glasgow.
GILLESPIE MACANDREW LLP, Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow, announces that Murray Shaw has become chairman and Chris West chief executive from 1 May 2015. Ian Turnbull stepped down as managing partner from 30 April. A new five-person board will also comprise John McArthur (head of tax), Robert Scott-Dempster (head of land and rural business), and Mike Blair (land and rural business).
Gillespie Macandrew has also promoted Agnes Mallon (trusts and executries) and Alan White (land and rural business) to partner; Alan Minty (housebuilder), James Mackinnon (private client) and Stephen Gamba (land and rural business) to legal director; Michelle McNeill (private client) to associate; Collette Kerr (private client) to associate tax director; and Lois Browning (land and rural business), Gillian Campbell (residential) and Ewelina Kurek (energy) to senior solicitor. All promotions are effective from 1 May 2015.
KERR STIRLING LLP, Stirling, announce the promotion of senior associate Caroline Litster to partner leading the firm’s corporate department.
LINDSAYS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and North Berwick, announce that John Lee has joined their employment team in Edinburgh as partner, and that with effect from 1 April 2015. Caroline Loudon, head of liquor licensing, has been promoted to partner. Alistair Mackie and Alison Boyd retired from the partnership on 31 March 2015.

THE McKINSTRY COMPANY, Ayr, announces its merger with MURRAY & TAIT, solicitors, Girvan, with effect from 1 April 2015. The office previously operated by Murray & Tait remains open and will trade under The McKinstry Company name. Peter Sharp, formerly the principal at Murray & Tait, becomes a consultant to The McKinstry Company, joining the partners. Graeme McKinstry, Thiona McQuiston, Robert Honeyman, John Fulton and Stephen Neillie.
MACLAY MURRAY & SPENS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and London, has appointed David Rose, formerly with BRODIES, as a director in its Aberdeen office, and Alexis Condie, formerly with DAVIDSON CHALMERS, as an associate in its Edinburgh team, both in its real estate practice.
MORISONS LLP, Glasgow and Edinburgh, announces that Lucy Gannon has been promoted to partner in the business team; Jacqueline McCluskey, who joins from HBJ GATELEY, has been appointed as a partner specialising in employment law; Rachel MacDonald, previously with THORLEY STEPHENSON, has joined the family team as a solicitor; and Vicky Baird moves from THOMPSONS to join the personal injuries team as a solicitor.
A C MORRISON & RICHARDS, solicitors, Aberdeen, announce that they have converted to LLP status with effect from 1 June 2015. They also announce that Neil Cromar has retired from practice, John Bruce Koss has stepped down as managing partner and has become a consultant, and David Russell Spence has been promoted to the position of associate, all with effect from 1 June 2015.

THE PRG PARTNERSHIP, Glasgow, Clydebank, Kirkintilloch and Erskine, intimates the retiral of David B Newton as a partner of the firm with effect from 31 March 2015. Mr Newton, who has been a partner with PRG for some 40 years, will continue his association with the firm as a consultant. On the same date, Alison D McKay was made an associate of the firm. Mr Newton continues to be based at the firm’s office in Clydebank. Miss McKay is based at the firm’s Glasgow office.
