Collected news of new appointments and practice changes

BRECHIN TINDAL OATTS (bto) solicitors, Glasgow and Edinburgh, announce that Robin Macpherson, solicitor advocate has joined the firm as a consultant, based in the Edinburgh office.

GEBBIE & WILSON, Strathaven announce that, after 39 years’ service with the firm, Robert A Flynn retired as a partner on 30 June 2015. He will continue to be associated with the firm as a consultant. They are also delighted to announce the promotion of their assistant, Jan M Bayley to associate of the firm with effect from 1 July 2015.

Mark Harrison of FLEXLAW, Edinburgh, is delighted to announce that Lyall Moodie, formerly of JOHN HENDERSON & SONS, Dumfries, has joined Flexlaw as a consultant solicitor.

KERR BARRIE, solicitors, Glasgow announce the appointment of their Trust & Executry associate, Isabel M Gargan as a partner of the firm with effect from 1 July 2015.

LINDSAY SOLICITORS, Dumfries announces that Tanya Steel, who practises in criminal law and family court work, has been promoted to associate with effect from 31 July 2015.

LINDSAYS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and North Berwick, is delighted to announce that, with effect from 6 July 2015, it has assumed the business of RSB MACDONALD, Dundee. Lesley MacDonald, Derek Duncan, Maureen Collison, Angela Morrison and Duncan Mackinnon (pictured) have all been assumed as partners of Lindsays. The Lindsays office at Seabraes House, 18 Greenmarket and the RSB macdonald office and property shop at 21 Crichton Street will trade as RSB LINDSAYS. The RSB macdonald offices at 4 Whitehall Street will close with staff moving into both the office at 21 Crichton Street and Seabraes House, 18 Greenmarket, Dundee DD1 4QB. Separately, Andrew Boccoli has joined Lindsays as an associate in Construction and will be based in the Lindsays office at Caledonian Exchange, 19A Canning Street, Edinburgh EH3 8HE.

McGILL & Co, Edinburgh & Glasgow, is delighted to announce the appointment of Darren Stevenson as a principal (director) of the firm and the appointment of John Vassiliou as associate.

MURRAY BEITH MURRAY, Edinburgh has announced the appointment of Bill Meldrum, formerly with BOYD LEGAL, as a senior associate.

SIMPSON & MARWICK, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and North Berwick, announce that Euan Allan (consultant) and Alison Grandison (associate) have joined the firm from SHOOSMITHS as of 1 July 2015.

STRONACHS LLP, Aberdeen and Inverness, has announced the appointment as partners of David Chalmers, who joins from RAEBURN CHRISTIE CLARK & WALLACE, and James Muir, who has been promoted from senior associate. Ross Linn, based at Stronachs’ Inverness office, and dispute resolution solicitor Bob McDiarmid have been promoted to senior associate; and Jamie Hunter and Karen Oliver have been promoted to associate.

WEIGHTMANS (SCOTLAND) LLP, Glasgow, has appointed Calum Fife, solicitor, formerly with BRECHIN TINDAL OATTS, to its Glasgow office.
