Collected news of new appointments and practice changes

BALFOUR + MANSON, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, has promoted Martin Walker to associate in the Regulatory Law team. 

TONY BONE LEGAL, Kilmarnock, has moved into a new office located on platform 1, Kilmarnock Railway Station, also home to Kilmarnock Station Community Village.

BRODIES LLP, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dingwall, has appointed Elaine McIlroy, formerly head of the UK Immigration team and Scottish Employment practice at WEIGHTMANS, as a partner.

Brodies has appointed Clare Dunlop, who joins from TURCAN CONNELL, as a senior associate in the Rural Law team; and oil and gas specialist Adam Brooks, who joins from a career in-house in the sector, as an associate based in
the Dingwall office.

BTO SOLICITORS LLP, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has appointed Morven Douglas, previously with BLACKADDERS and formerly MORISONS LLP, as a senior associate in the Glasgow office, and newly qualified solicitor Brittany Thomas to the Edinburgh office, both in the Family Law team.

BURNESS PAULL LLP, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, has promoted to partner Neil Bruce and Peter Ward in the Energy team, and Lynne Gray in the Health & Safety and Corporate Crime team. Colin Miller joins from DWF LLP as a partner in the Technology & Commercial division. 

CLYDE & CO, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has entered into an agreement to transfer its Edinburgh-based private client practice, led by partner Nikki Dundas, with associates Judith Clark and Doran Mitchell, to GILLESPIE MACANDREW LLP with effect from 2 September 2019. Clyde & Co’s residential property division in Scotland will continue to trade under the SIMPSON & MARWICK brand.

Clyde & Co has promoted Rachel Carr to senior associate in the Legacy (reparation) team, and Megan Lafferty and Aileen Irvine to associate in Healthcare and Employment respectively.

CMS, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has announced promotions across its Scottish offices. Senior associates Alan Hughes in the Glasgow Real Estate team, and Frances Reilly in the Energy practice in Aberdeen, have been promoted to counsel. Six associates advance to senior associate: Craig Wilson and Jennifer Sherrington (Corporate, Aberdeen); Jimmy Dundas and Jamie Marshall (Finance, Edinburgh); and Lindsay Dougall and Lindsey Wainwright (Real Estate, Edinburgh and Glasgow respectively). Promoted to associate are Laura Sefton and Stuart Gillies (Finance, Edinburgh); Rowena Williams (Insurance, Edinburgh); Chris Bowie, Edinburgh and David Ramage, Glasgow (Technology, Media, IP & Competition); Jennefer Fusaro and Louise Brymer (Real Estate, Glasgow); Eilidh Douglas (Energy, Projects & Construction, Edinburgh); Shona McCusker and Karen Cossar (Energy, Projects & Construction, Glasgow); and Katie Hume (Corporate, Edinburgh). 

DALES SOLICITORS LLP, Galston, has appointed Suzanne McDonald, formerly a partner with MACKINLAY & SUTTIE, Barrhead, as a senior solicitor, and newly qualified Robert Cunningham as a solicitor.

DIGBY BROWN LLP, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has promoted Simon Richards (Foreign & Travel team), Mairi Day (Network department) and Gavin Brogan (General Litigation) to partner.

Ronnie Fulton resigned as a partner of FULTON’S SOLICITORS & ESTATE AGENTS, Glasgow, as of 22 August 2019. He will continue to be employed with the business as a consultant. Fulton’s was acquired by GILDEAS LTD earlier this year. 

LINDA GEORGE FAMILY LAW LTD, Hamilton and Lanark, announce the appointment of Amy Dobbin as associate solicitor with effect from 1 August 2019.

GILSON GRAY LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and North Berwick, has appointed Sarah Feeney, who joins from BTO SOLICITORS, as an associate in its Family Law department (above), in Glasgow. 

LINDSAYS, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee, announce that Andrew Linehan ceased to be a partner of the firm with effect from 13 August 2019.

MACDONALD HENDERSON, Glasgow, has promoted Michael Hankinson to director in the Commercial Dispute team. Director Fraser Morrison has also been appointed commercial director and in-house legal counsel of THE HALO URBAN REGENERATION COMPANY. Hilary Malone has been appointed as a solicitor in the Corporate team, joining the firm from BRODIES. Colm Kerr has been appointed a solicitor in the Corporate team, after training with the firm. 

MITCHELLS ROBERTON, Glasgow, has appointed commercial property specialist Ken Gerber, who joins from ANDERSON STRATHERN as a director and partner.

Thomas Murdock WS has begun a new role as Head of Legal – Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, at US software company JAMF.

MURRAY BEITH MURRAY, Edinburgh, has promoted its associate Bill Meldrum to partner in the Property group, from 5 August 2019.

RAEBURN CHRISTIE CLARK & WALLACE, Aberdeen, Ellon, Banchory, Inverurie and Stonehaven, has appointed Gordon Wallace as an associate in the Commercial Property team. He joins from DENTONS. 

SHOOSMITHS, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has appointed Fraser Mitchell as a partner in its Real Estate team.

THORNTONS LAW LLP, Dundee and elsewhere, has promoted Lauren Rae to partner in the Dundee office Commercial Dispute Resolution & Claims team. Promoted to associate are Lisa Mannion and Steven Drake in Dundee and Graham Taylor in Montrose (all Residential Property), Kirsty Stewart (Intellectual Property, Dundee), Lisa Hainey (Private Client, Cupar), Robin Dunlop (Land & Rural Business, Edinburgh), and Aimee Gibbons (Commercial Property, Edinburgh and Glasgow). Promoted to senior solicitor are Neil McWilliam (Corporate, Dundee), Victoria McLaren (Corporate, St Andrews), Kirsty Lynch (Commercial Property, Edinburgh), and Lee Corr (Dispute Resolution & Claims, Dundee). Morgan O’Neill has been appointed as its first Director of Data Protection Services.

TRUSTPILOT has appointed Carolyn Jameson as chief legal and policy officer. She was formerly chief legal officer for SKYSCANNER, and head of international M&A for CTRIP.

WRIGHT, JOHNSTON & MACKENZIE LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Dunblane and Dunfermline, has appointed family law specialists Roger Mackenzie as a partner and Emma Letham as a senior solicitor, joining from DIGBY BROWN.
