Collected news of new appointments and practice changes
13th January 2020

ABERDEIN CONSIDINE, Aberdeen and elsewhere, has appointed Alieen Entwistle as a partner in the Private Client team in its Glasgow office. She joins from ANDERSON STRATHERN.

ADDLESHAW GODDARD, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and elsewhere in the UK, has appointed as partners Neil Hogg, who joins the Real Estate team in Glasgow from PINSENT MASONS, and Gaenor Cassell, who joins the Banking team in Edinburgh from BURNESS PAULL.

ANDERSONBAIN LLP, Aberdeen, is delighted to announce that Rebecca Bett and Stephanie Mann have been promoted to associates, effective from 1 January 2020.

BALFOUR + MANSON, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, has revamped its management structure from 1 January 2020, with a new senior management team comprising partners Ann Logan,Robert Holland and Alan Gilfillan. Former executive chairman Elaine Motion remains as chair of the partnership.

BANNATYNE KIRKWOOD FRANCE & CO, Glasgow, is pleased to announce the arrival of Brian Meldrum, formerly with MORTON FRASER LLP in Glasgow, as a partner to head its Commercial Conveyancing team, effective from 1 January 2020. He was previously a partner of the firm between 1985 and 1990.

BTO SOLICITORS, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has announced the appointment of Drew McCusker as a solicitor in its Personal Injury team. He joins from LIVINGSTONE BROWN. He is also founder and president of The Glass Network, Scotland’s organisation for LGBT+ legal professionals.

EVERSHEDS SUTHERLAND, Edinburgh and internationally, has appointed Alastair Frood as a litigation and disputes partner in its Edinburgh office. He joins from SHEPHERD & WEDDERBURN where he led its Banking & Finance Litigation team.

LAW AT WORK, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness, has been bought by UK health and safety compliance firm MARLOWE PLC. All 70 staff across its four offices will remain within the company and its senior management team will also remain in place. It will continue to operate under the Law At Work brand.

LEFEVRE LITIGATION, Aberdeen, has moved to new offices at 40 Carden Place, Aberdeen, AB10 1UP, following a fire that destroyed its former premises at 70 Carden Place before Christmas. The move ensures no interruption to its services.

MUNRO & NOBLE, Inverness, has appointed a new senior associate, Emma Linn, pictured right, to head its Corporate and Commercial department. She joins from ANDERSON SHAW & GILBERT.

PATTISON & CO, Glasgow and Paisley, is delighted to announce the promotion of Melanie Paterson, who initially joined the company as a trainee solicitor, to associate solicitor with effect from January 2020.

PLEXUS LAW, Edinburgh and elsewhere in the UK, has appointed Calum Mathieson as a partner in its Edinburgh office. He joins from CLYDE & CO, where he was also a partner.

RAEBURN CHRISTIE CLARK & WALLACE, Aberdeen, Ellon, Inverurie, Stonehaven and Banchory, has promoted David Smith in its Residential Property team at Union Street, Aberdeen, to associate solicitor.

SCULLION LAW, Hamilton, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has appointed Urfan Dar, solicitor advocate as an associate. He joins from AAMER ANWAR & CO.

TAITS, Kelso and Jedburgh, intimates that with effect from 31 October 2019 Jennifer Marie Mays retired as a partner of the firm; and that with effect from 1 November 2019, Dorothy Janet Amos, previously a consultant of the firm, was assumed as a partner.

VIALEX, Edinburgh, has established a relationship with the INNOVATION WAREHOUSE in Smithfield, central London, under which Innovation Warehouse co-founder Jeff McGeachie, a company commercial solicitor, will spearhead Vialex’s provision of legal advice to SMEs and startups in the south of England, supported by the Vialex legal team in Edinburgh and Berwick.

VMH SOLICITORS, Edinburgh, is delighted to announce the promotion of Stacey Wilson to director with effect from 1 January 2020.
