Finders International

Founded in 1997, Finders International is the UK’s leading probate genealogy firm, with a dedicated team of Case Managers and researchers based in our Edinburgh office to serve the Scottish legal profession.

We specialise in tracing missing beneficiaries, heirs, and Legal Rights Claimants, and verifying entitlement to estates, property, funds, and assets worldwide.

For the private sector, we support executry professionals, solicitors, accountants, trustees, and financial institutions by locating vital documents and information needed to progress or resolve cases. To help mitigate risk in estate executry administration, we offer a comprehensive suite of Legal Support and International Asset Services, including:

  • Overseas Bankruptcy Searches
  • Medallion Signature Guarantees
  • Missing Document Services
  • Missing, Dormant & Unclaimed Asset and Liability Searches
  • Missing Will Searches
  • Assistance with transferring and selling US shares and foreign reseals

These services help professionals meet due diligence requirements with confidence.

Each year, we handle hundreds of pro bono cases — reuniting families separated by war or adoption and restoring treasured items such as lost war medals and family heirlooms.

Our commitment to excellence has been recognised across the industry. We are proud to have been named UK Probate Research Firm of the Year at both the 2025 Probate Industry Awards and the 2023 British Wills and Probate Awards. In addition, we received the Supporting the Industry Award at the 2024 Modern Law Awards, and hold the Feefo Gold Trusted Service Award, reflecting our dedication to consistently exceptional client service.

From our Edinburgh office, we regularly assist executry practitioners with complex family tree verification and heir location services, supported by our wider team in London, Cardiff, Yorkshire, Dublin, and Sydney. Our global reach is strengthened by membership in the International Association of Professional Probate Researchers (IAPPR).
