Joining information

How to join

  • The application is the same for both accredited paralegals and trainee accredited paralegals
  • If you are applying for the full accreditation (waiver) you must provide evidence of your paralegal experience to date (not required if you are applying to be a trainee accredited paralegal)
  • We recommend that you read the sections on the general competencies and the competencies relating to your chosen practice area before applying.

Practice year

The accreditation is renewed annually with the practice year for accredited paralegals running from 1 February to 31 January. You can join at any time of the year. 

Joining fee

The joining fee is £175 per annum and is payable when your application has been approved by the Accredited Paralegal Committee.

This fee can be paid by electronic transfer or credit card.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

All accredited must undertake a minimum of 10 hours of CPD per year.

Your accreditation

All successful applicants receive a certificate of accreditation and are entitled to use the Accredited Paralegal logo.
