Letter poses a question
Dear Sir
In relation to the dual function debate, I wonder whether it would be possible to create a
structure whereby the profession was regulated by a body other than the Law Society of Scotland,
with the Law Society of Scotland remaining intact with the requirement that all solicitors seeking
to practise in Scotland are members, and with the Law Society fulfilling all of its present duties,
other than regulation. In these circumstances, is there any reason why the Master Policy
arrangements could not remain in place?
Yours sincerely
Scott Rasmusen Gibson Kerr, Edinburgh
