After the success of our virtual law-fair-style Diploma fairs, we are once again running the event online in 2024. This fair will be combined with a session focused on mastering traineeship applications and careers in the law.
Diploma providers are taking a different approach to admissions criteria in comparison to previous years. Therefore, if you are considering applying to the Diploma it is essential that you understand the application and admissions process for each university you want to apply to before you submit your application. Attending this session will enable you to do that.
This event will be split into two parts. Note that you can use your personalised Zoom link you receive when you sign up to join any sessions throughout the day, so you can drop in and out as it suits you.
This event is primarily targeted at final-year LLB students and graduates. However, anyone can attend, regardless of the stage you're at in your legal studies or career, if a session is of interest to you.
LLB students who are not in their final year should note that we run an event like this every year, so you might prefer to wait until a future year when all the information will be directly relevant to you, particularly relating to Diploma access.
Click the 'book now' button at the top of this page or follow the registration link to Zoom here.
A personalised link to join the event will then be sent to your email address. Please make sure you check your junk email folder!
Note that all sessions will be accessible via the same Zoom link throughout the day, so if you need to drop off the event and want to join in for a later session, you can click the same personalised link to rejoin.
Navigating the Diploma application process (morning)
These sessions are designed to help you decide whether this is the right course for you and which providers you would like to apply to.
A short talk run by the Law Society focused on everything you need to know about applying for the Diploma. This will include timescales, costs, funding and an assessment of the current traineeship market.
Attend the individual scheduled sessions for the providers you are interested in finding out more about. We recommend keeping an open mind and attending as many as possible.
Traineeship applications and career options for solicitors (afternoon)
We will be running a session in the afternoon, welcoming a panel of insightful speakers.
During this insightful session, high-street and in-house solicitors will share details of their roles and responsibilities as well as what it is like to work in their organisations. They will offer valuable guidance on the skills required to work on the high-street or in-house and how you might develop those skills. We will also offer advice on the trainee recruitment process and how to manage some of the challenges that occur during that process.
