Nutrition isn't just about supporting the physical body, but is also very important for mental health. There is growing evidence to support the idea that a healthy diet can help to prevent and manage mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and overall to support cognitive health.
Poor nutrition, stress and sedentary lifestyles have a negative impact on mental wellbeing, mood, work performance, and long-term health. Lawyers can often spend many hours a day seated at their desks, or isolated from work colleagues when working from home. They can typically work long hours and there can be blurred boundaries between work and leisure. Such hectic schedules make it incredibly challenging to incorporate balanced nutrition into everyday life.
In this seminar, GiCa Nutrition will explore:
- The latest research on how nutrition and other lifestyle factors like exercise, sleep, and stress management can impact our mood, anxiety levels, and overall optimal health.
- Practical tips and strategies for incorporating this knowledge into the daily habits of busy people to promote optimal mental health.
- Topics such as the gut-brain axis, the role of specific foods and nutraceuticals along with the impact of processed food on our mental health.

About GiCa Nutrition
Gill Grassie, LLB(Hons), Dip.CNM, mBANT, CNHCreg
Gill had been formerly a corporate IP lawyer in large commercial law firms for around 30 years and felt it was time to find a new challenge and path . She was motivated to learn more about nutrition as it had always been of interest to her. Resigning from legal practice in 2018 Gill went on to complete a 3 year diploma in Nutritional Therapy and set up GiCa Nutrition Limited with her colleague Caterina. Applying the techniques she has subsequently learned has allowed her to address her own symptoms and optimise her own health. She is now keen to try to help others experience a lifelong transformation in their wellbeing by making better nutrition and lifestyle choices.
Dr Caterina Fiegna, DVM, PhD, Dip.CNM, mBANT, CNHCreg
After obtaining a degree in Veterinary Medicine (Bologna, Italy), Caterina moved to Scotland where she spent several years in research and academic settings and obtained a PhD in Veterinary Medicine. Due to a combination of personal health issues, the arrival of her son, and her long-lasting interest in complementary and integrative medicine, she decided to complete a 3 year diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition. Now, Caterina and her colleague Gill run GiCa Nutrition Limited, supporting clients to achieve better health and well-being through advice on nutrition and lifestyle.
