In this free session we're looking at how to deal with anxiety. It's the theme of Mental Health Awareness Week 2023, but we also know it's a common experience for lawyers.
In LawCare's Life in the Law survey, lawyers were asked about their mental health and their symptoms. Experience of anxiety was the most commonly reported symptom, with 21.6% citing they experienced anxiety often, 27.8% experiencing it very often, and 11.3% of respondents citing they experienced it all the time. Which means over 60% of legal professionals who answered the survey experience anxiety frequently.
In this session we will be joined by Sophie Bryson, who is a qualified counsellor in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and also incorporates cold-water therapy into her treatments for clients.
During this session we will cover themes like:
- The benefits of cold-water therapy
- Where anxiety can stem from and how to identify its presence
- How anxiety can manifest
- How CBT tools can help
- The role of a counsellor
- Whether self-esteem issues like imposter syndrome can exacerbate anxiety
This will be a conversational-style session between Sophie and our host Olivia Moore. You are invited to ask questions to contribute to the discussion, which can be kept anonymous if you prefer.
About Sophie Bryson
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and I have been working with clients in 1-2-1 therapy for over three years. After I started taking part in cold water therapy myself I was so excited at the results. I now incorporate it into my own practice in a group setting: to help build a sense of community, provide support for those in need of it and introduce them to the benefits of the cold.
