Aberdein Considine completes Stirling merger
Legal firm Aberdein Considine has expanded into a fifth Scottish city with the acquisition of Stirling practice Muirhead Buchanan.
The deal gives the Aberdeen-headquartered practice 19 offices across the country, including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth.
Muirhead Buchanan is the first firm that Aberdein Considine has merged with since 1988, but managing Partner, Jacqueline Law, described the addition as a "perfect fit".
“Traditionally, we have expanded through organic growth, but joining forces with a well-known firm allows us to hit the ground running in Stirling.
“The partners feel that this acquisition further demonstrates our commitment to providing legal, property and financial services across Scotland and will strengthen the services currently provided in our existing south offices – Perth, Bathgate, Livingston, Edinburgh and Glasgow.”
Given that the name is well established in the Stirling area, Aberdein Considine will operate under the trading name of Muirhead Buchanan in the city from the firm's existing premises at Allan Park.
Muirhead Buchanan's two partners, Philip Anderson and Anthony Quin, have become partners at Aberdein Considine as part of the transaction.
Mr Anderson said: “We are a long-established firm with long-established clients and we are delighted to be joining Aberdein Considine, a firm which shares our ethos of always putting the client first.
“This merger allows us to offer an increased range of legal services to our clients, with added degrees of specialism, but at a local level."
Established in 1981, Aberdein Considine now has a turnover of £20m and more than 350 staff.
