Advocate member appointed to Scottish Civil Justice Council
A new advocate member, Lynda Brabender, has been appointed to the Scottish Civil Justice Council (SCJC).
Ms Brabender, who will serve a three year term, was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 2005 and specialises in family and child law, and public law relating to children. She is a member of the Faculty Disciplinary Tribunals and was a member of the Faculty Council from 2010 to 2013.
She is also a member of the committee of the Advocates’ Family Law Association, the Faculty representative on the Scottish Government working group on bar reporters and, from 2005 to 2010, a convener of the Additional Support Needs Tribunal for Scotland.
She was appointed to the SCJC's Family Law Committee in November 2013 and will continue to serve on that committee during her SCJC term.
SCJC chair, Lord Carloway, the Lord President, commented: “Lynda brings a wealth of expertise to the Council, especially in relation to family law which will prove useful to our work."
Ms Brabender was appointed by the Lord President following an open competition and in consultation with the Faculty of Advocates.
