Anderson Strathern hires renewable energy consultant

18th April 2018 | careers

Legal firm Anderson Strathern today announced the lateral hire of renewable energy industry specialist Alan Simpson as a consultant.

Formerly a partner with Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie, Mr Simpson has a background in commercial property and brings 15 years’ experience of working on renewable energy projects across Scotland and the UK, from onshore wind and hydro to solar and tidal. He also has strong links to the international renewables industry, particularly in Germany and China.

Among other projects over the last 12 months, Anderson Strathern has advised the Crown Estate (Scotland) on a series of offshore development opportunities, Bluemerang Capital around the sale of a combined portfolio of wind turbines to Malaysian infrastructure giant Tenaga, the landowners’ consortium on the Solwaybank wind turbine project, and Elgin Energy who have built out Scotland’s largest solar park at Errol.

Firm chair Bruce Farquhar commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Alan to the firm. His extensive experience in the renewable energy field and his international connections will be an added strength for the firm and its future growth strategy.”
