Anderson to retire from Clyde & Co
International law firm Clyde & Co has announced the retirement of Peter Anderson, a partner in its Edinburgh office, from 27 April 2018.
Mr Anderson has worked for more than 40 years at legacy firm Simpson & Marwick and then Clyde & Co, with which it merged in 2015. A civil solicitor advocate, he has developed a specialism in complex high-value personal injury claims, professional negligence, commercial litigation and aviation disputes.
He represented Pan Am as part of the Lockerbie bombing fatal accident inquiry, and played an instrumental role in the setup of the Piper Alpha investigation and in the subsequent litigation. He has also taught as a senior lecturer at Edinburgh University Law School, sat as a part-time sheriff, acted as procurator fiscal to the Law Society of Scotland at disciplinary tribunals and sat for many years on the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeal Tribunal. He was recently appointed to the post of Competition Appeal Tribunal judge.
David Tait, managing partner of Clyde & Co Scotland, commented: "We have seen Peter play a pivotal role in the growing success of both Simpson & Marwick and Clyde & Co, where throughout his career he assumed the roles of managing partner, chairman of the firm and senior partner thereafter.
“He also commenced the successful merger of Simpson & Marwick with Clyde & Co in 2015.
"The firm expresses its gratitude to Peter for his endless commitment to its success. We wish him a very happy and healthy retirement from the partnership."
