Balfour+Manson hires medical negligence senior associate

5th December 2018 | careers

Legal firm Balfour+Manson has added to its litigation team with the appointment of medical negligence lawyer Kiera Dargie as a senior associate.

Ms Dargie joins from The Medical Protection Society, where she was medical negligence litigator within its Pathway 4B team. As part of this, she represented doctors in South Africa on a number of highly complex medical negligence claims.

Before that, she spent seven years with Anderson Strathern where her case portfolio included complex claims in areas such as obstetric, ophthalmic and dental negligence.

She was also a member of the sub-group of the personal injury committee of the Scottish Civil Justice Council, when it was considering pre-action protocols in medical negligence claims, and in 2015 she completed a one-year secondment at the Lord President’s private office during its period of implementation of the court reforms.

Balfour+Manson chairman Elaine Motion commented: "Medical negligence remains a significant area of specialism and we are delighted that Kiera has joined us with her wealth of experience gained across a broad reach of national and international work. Not only does her medical negligence experience speak volumes, she has gained a vast amount of medical procedural knowledge too, which gives her a greatly rounded perspective of these matters which are crucial to every case. She will be a valuable addition to our Litigation team."
