Brodies team to undertake Arctic trek for cancer charity
A five-strong team from Brodies solicitors are to undergo an Arctic trek in February to raise funds for Maggie’s Cancer Centres.
Their three day, 70km trek will start from Rovaniemi in Finland and head into the Arctic Circle. Pulling their own equipment and sleeping in tents, the all-female team face temperatures that could reach -30 Celsius.
The group includes Jenni Guy, associate and Jackie McFarlane, senior solicitor from the firm’s real estate team in Glasgow, litigation senior solicitor Seonaid Cochrane, also based in Glasgow, and associate Jenna McCosh and solicitor Naiomi Law, both from the real estate team in Aberdeen.
All first time trekkers, the team require to build on their own physical fitness for the challenge, as well as learning how to manage cold weather injuries and to use the equipment they will need for the conditions.
Nick Scott, Brodies’ managing partner commented: “We are very proud of Jenni, Jackie, Jenna, Seonaid and Naiomi for taking on the challenge that lies before them. As a firm, we have been supporting Maggie’s for more than 11 years. In that time our colleagues have demonstrated their personal commitment to this great charity and we have seen at first hand the impact that has had on individuals and families when they need it most.
“The Arctic Trek is, though, commitment on another level. On behalf of everyone at Brodies we wish the team well – they really are embodying Brodies’ values by going above and beyond.”
Jenni Guy added on behalf of the team: “We’re very excited about taking on the trek and so have set ourselves an ambitious fundraising target of £15,000. We also have a lot of equipment to source so it will be a busy few months in the lead up to the trek itself. It will be an amazing adventure and we are so pleased to be able to do this to raise funds for Maggie’s, which is a cause close to all of our hearts.”
