BTO appoints new chairman and chief operating officer

Scottish law firm BTO Solicitors has appointed David Gibson as its new chairman, succeeding Alan Borthwick. As part of a new management structure, the firm has also appointed David Walker as its first chief operating officer.

Mr Gibson took up his new role today, 1 April. He said: "It is a great privilege to be appointed chairman. I would like to thank Alan for his years of dedicated service and his huge contribution to the firm."

"BTO has a highly talented team and a genuine independent character which makes it such an attractive and distinctive firm, with huge potential."

He added: "I am also delighted to welcome David Walker in his new post as chief operating officer. David is an excellent addition to the team and his wealth of experience will help us to continue to grow and enhance our offering to clients."

Mr Walker joined the firm from Ecolab Ltd where he was Northern Europe finance director.
