Burnett & Reid announces promotions round
Burnett & Reid LLP, Aberdeen’s oldest established legal practice, has announced a round of
promotions and new appointments, effective from 1 January 2015, along with the retirement of its senior partner Alastair Robertson.
Joining the partnership board is James Herbertson, a specialist in rural property. The firm’s estate factor, Shane Greig, who is experienced in rural business affairs and land management, is to serve the board in an advisory capacity, as will the new practice manager, Helen Strachan, a former tax specialist with PwC, who will act as a financial adviser to the firm and also as secretary to the board.
Rosemary O’Neill, who joined the firm last year to lead the court department, is promoted to associate.
Mr Robertson, senior partner for the last 18 years, moves to a consultancy role within the firm. He commented: “There is a lot of momentum in Burnett & Reid at the moment. Over the last 12 months we’ve seen exceptional growth in both our corporate & commercial department and our private client department, each of which now make up almost as much of the firm’s workload as our ever strong agricultural and property departments.
"Over the last few years we’ve seen a number of new faces join the firm, but people are retiring later so we
still have lot of experienced and well respected practitioners who are helping to bring through the next
generation and are likely to be with the firm for a number of years yet.”
