Charity benefits from Scullion free wills offer
Hamilton based legal practice Scullion Law created nearly 200 wills this year with its annual scheme in aid of the Marie Curie charity, the firm has announced.
Since 2015 Scullion Law has been creating free wills for everyone in the local community aged 55 and over, in a scheme that runs each spring. This annual scheme is in aid of Marie Curie who do great work, supporting people with terminal illness at home and in the hospice. Since it began the scheme has led to more than 580 people making a will.
There is no obligation to leave a gift, but this year more people left gifts than ever.
Managing director Nicholas Scullion said it was "so important for us as a local organisation to be able to give something back to the community". He commented: "We hope to continue working with Marie Curie every spring to sign up more people to the scheme and to raise a substantial amount of future income to support the charity, with thanks to everyone for their generosity in support of the amazing work Marie Curie do. Marie Curie is a charity close to our hearts and we are forever grateful of all the effort, care and love they give to others."
Hazel Crombie, Marie Curie legacy adviser for Scotland, responded: “The free wills scheme has gone from strength to strength over the last four years and we really appreciate the hard work of the Scullion LAW team in supporting Marie Curie. Every gift in will supports our work ensuring terminally ill people and their families get the vital care and support they need.”
From now until the end of October Scullion is also offering everyone in the community 20% off a power of attorney, plus a free living will. For every power of attorney completed it will donate £20 to support Alzheimer Scotland – Action on Dementia.
