DAC Beachcroft appoints Scottish regulatory head
International law firm DAC Beachroft has appointed Colin Bissett to lead its insurance-related regulatory unit in Scotland.
Since 2012 Mr Bissett, a criminal defence lawyer, has run his own practice in Glasgow, Bissett Solicitors. Before that he was a partner in Bell Russell & Co.
He joins DAC Beachcroft to act for insurers and other clients in the investigation and defence of motor, health and safety and environmental prosecutions, fatal accident inquiries and "white collar" offences. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Glasgow Bar Association.
Senior partner for DAC Beachcroft Scotland, Gilbert Anderson, said: "This is a very important appointment for our business. Colin comes highly recommended, bringing with him a unique blend of High Court exposure, large FAI representation and regulatory advice to commercial organisations.
"Colin has also actively participated in initiatives to influence the development of the law in ways which are fair, coherent and consistent. He is the ideal person to lead our regulatory unit into its next stage of development. Insurance is at the heart of everything we do at DAC Beachcroft and his appointment greatly enhances the range of services we provide to the insurance industry."
Mr Bissett is the fourth addition to DAC Beachcroft's Glasgow office this year.
