Dailly to give keynote address at law clinics' annual conference

29th May 2018 | education-training

Mike Dailly, principal solicitor of Govan Law Centre is to be the keynote speaker at this year's annual conference of the Scottish University Law Clinic Network.

The event, which takes place at the Scrymgeour Building of the University of Dundee School of Law, Park Place, Dundee on the afternoon of Wednesday 6 June, has the theme: "Virtual Pro Bono: how might this be applied in a community?"

In addition to Mr Dailly's address there will be content about the Scottish University Land Unit from DTA Scotland's Community Ownership Support Service, and a presentation by Malcolm Combe, lecturer in law at Aberdeen University and chair of SULCN.

There are currently six student-run law clinics operating in Scotland, at Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian, Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier, Aberdeen and Robert Gordon Universities. They aim to address access to justice issues in ways including public legal education, legal advice and sometimes assistance where alternative support is not available, and campaigning for law reform. SULCN offers a forum to share ideas amongst students, academics and supporters, and supports the establishment of new law clinics and the development of existing clinics.
