Death announced of former Sheriff Principal Risk
The death has been announced of Douglas Risk QC, former Sheriff Principal of Grampian, Highland & Islands. He was 76.
Mr Risk was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1966, and following a period as a temporary sheriff, he was appointed a floating sheriff for Lothian & Borders in 1977. In 1979 he became a sheriff in Aberdeen and Stonehaven Sheriff Courts.
He took silk and was appointed a temporary Court of Session judge in 1992. The following year he was elevated to sheriff principal in his sheriffdom, from which post he retired in 2001.
A funeral service will take place at Holburn West Church, Aberdeen, on Wednesday 29 November at 1.15pm.
