Dentons' Jones to chair Women & Girls in Sport Advisory Board
Dentons employment law partner Amanda Jones has been appointed chair of the Women & Girls in Sport Advisory Board in Scotland.
The advisory board was established by the Scottish Government to provide independent advice to the Minister for Public Health and Sport on female participation and awareness raising in all areas of sport and physical activity. It focuses on driving participation, marketing and awareness of Scottish women and girls in sport, and ensuring that all women and girls are given the opportunity to participate in sport and physical activity, whatever their background.
Ms Jones is a non-executive director of Hibernian Football Club, the Hibernian Community Foundation and Lothian Racing Syndicate Ltd, as well as a legal member of the Scottish Football Association (SFA) judicial panel and a member of various committees advising on SFA regulation. She is also co-chair of Inspire, Dentons' women's network in the UK. She was first appointed to the advisory board, which consists of key leaders from the world of women's sport, business and media, in 2017.
An accredited specialist in both employment law and discrimination law by the Law Society of Scotland, she also has a particular interest in sports and sports law.
Jeremy Cohen, Dentons' CEO for the UK and Middle East, commented: "I want to congratulate Amanda on her appointment to head up the Women & Girls in Sport Advisory Board. Supporting gender equality and equal opportunities across all areas of our business is a priority for Dentons, and we are very pleased that Amanda has been chosen to lead a group that promotes and furthers these ideals in Scottish sport."
