Edinburgh office move for Morisons as team expands

25th May 2015 | careers , practice management

Morisons solicitors has today completed the move of its Edinburgh office to new premises, as it announces a partner promotion and a number of new hires.

The firm has moved from its Queen Street base after leasing the second floor of 1 Exchange Crescent in Conference Square. The new office will accommodate its current Edinburgh staff of 75 along with those working between the capital and Morisons' Glasgow office. At present it has a total of 19 partners and around 100 staff.

Coinciding with the office move, the firm has promoted Lucy Gannon to partner in the business team and appointed Jacqueline McCluskey, who joins from HBJ Gateley, as a partner specialising in employment law. Rachel MacDonald, previously with Thorley Stephenson, has joined the family team as a solicitor, and Vicky Baird moves from Thompsons to join the personal injuries team as a solicitor.

Having in the past few years acquired the practices of Edinburgh firms Bonar MacKenzie and Macrae, Flett & Rennie, Morisons could be in the market for further acquisitions. Partner Robin Valentine commented: “It’s interesting times for the legal profession and we’ve strived in the past few years to ensure investment in the business even during challenging times through our staff and technology, which has been a game changer in our business.

“As well as contributing to our growth, our acquisitions have enabled us to attract highly skilled people, which is crucial as the industry starts to experience improving market conditions. And it’s something we wouldn’t rule out in the future if the right opportunity comes along.”
