Faculty of Advocates elects new officers
The Faculty of Advocates has a new clerk, the first woman to hold the post.
Kirsty Hood, who won an all-female election against Ruth Innes and Claire Mitchell, will take over from Calum Wilson, who has stepped down after five years.
In another ballot, Peter Gray QC was elected chairman of Faculty Services Ltd ahead of Anthony Graham and Andrew Webster, to succeed Gerry Moynihan QC, who served for two years.
Other women to have served as Faculty office bearers are Dame Margaret Kidd QC, the first female member of Faculty, Keeper of the Library from 1956 to 1969; Valerie Stacey, QC, now Lady Stacey, Vice Dean of Faculty from 2004 to 2007; and Susan O'Brien QC, chairman of Faculty Services Ltd from 2005 to 2007.
