Faculty workshop looks to attract keen students
University students keen to embark on a career in advocacy are being invited to visit the Faculty of Advocates to learn about the Scottish bar, its members and their work.
A limited number of places are available for an advocacy and presentational skills training workshop being held on Monday 12 December, which will be offered to those who demonstrate a keen interest in advocacy.
There are morning and afternoon sessions for the event. After an introduction to the Faculty, students will undertake a practical workshop to teach them about advocacy and presentational skills before having a chance to observe these skills in use in court.
Application forms can be obtained by emailing admissions@advocates.org.uk
- This weekend the Faculty is also supporting the 26th Bar National Mock Trial Competition. Taking place at Glasgow High Court, the event involves state school students aged 15-18 who have been prepared by volunteer members of Faculty to take the roles of prosecutors, defence lawyers and witnesses. Three rounds of heats will precede a final before Lord Clark, with the winners progressing to represent Scotland at the UK final next spring.
