Finalists announced for 2015 Scottish Legal Awards

5th January 2015

Large and smaller legal practices, professional bodies, support companies and voluntary organisations have all made the shortlist for the Scott + Co Scottish Legal Awards 2015, released today.

A total of 33 bodies, or their nominated employees, are listed in 15 award categories, for which the winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Edinburgh on 26 March.

Vying for the title Firm of the Year are Digby Brown, DLA Piper Scotland, Simpson & Marwick and Thompsons, though Anderson Strathern and DAC Beachcroft also feature in several of the more specialised shortlists, along with Allan McDougall.

The contest for Training Provider of the Year pits the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow, and its junior section the Trainee and Newly Qualified Lawyer Society, against the Scottish Young Lawyers' Association; while the Pro Bono Award features two student-run law clinics, the Aberdeen Law Project and the University of Strathclyde Law Clinic, alongside the Faculty of Advocates and DLA Piper.

The sole finalist in the In-house Legal Team award will not be announced until the awards dinner, as will the winners of Managing Partner of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

A 12-strong judging panel for the awards is chaired by Lorna Jack, chief executive of the Law Society of Scotland.
