Finalists named for Law Awards of Scotland

Thirty five legal firms and other organisations have been named as the finalists to contest this year's Law Awards of Scotland, in their own right or through nominated individuals.

Law Firm of the Year nominees are DLA Piper Scotland, Harper Macleod and Thompsons in the more than 40 fee earners category, while Innes & Mackay, McSherry Halliday and Thorley Stephenson compete for th equivalent prize for smaller firms.

Harper Macleod are challenging for a total of seven awards, followed by Allan McDougall for five, and Innes & Mackay, Thorley Stephenson, DLA Piper, Thompsons, Aamer Anwar & Co, and MBM Commercial, each of whom is shortlisted in three categories.

Solicitor of the Year will be chosen from Aamer Anwar, Fred Tyler of Balfour+Manson, Lorna Brown of Caritas Legal, Claire Newcombe of DAC Beachcroft, Cat MacLean of MBM Commercial and Mandy Louise Rawlinson of Standard Life Investments.

Other popular categories include Trainee of the Year, where there are nine finalists, and Up and Coming Lawyer of the Year, and High Street Firm of the Year, which have seven each. However no entries were received in a number of categories including Legal Personality of the Year and In-house Legal Team/Lawyer of the Year.

Faculty of the Year will be decided between the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow and the Glasgow Bar Association.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 3 September.
