First solicitor President of Chartered Insurance Institute Scottish Faculty
An insurance and risk partner with legal firm Brodies has been appointed as president of the Insurance & Actuarial Society of Glasgow (IASG) – the first lawyer to take up the position in its 138 year history.
Alisdair Matheson was elected at the faculty's AGM to replace Kieran Gallagher of loss adjuster McLarens and will hold the position for one year.
The IASG is a training, mentoring and support network for professionals in the insurance market and is the largest Scottish faculty of the Chartered Insurance Institute, with a membership of over 4,000.
Mr Matheson commented: “Having worked in dispute resolution for more than 20 years, I work regularly with insurers and recognise the value of the IASG to the insurance market community and the support that it provides to new and established professionals.
“I am very proud to take on this new role and intend to use it as an opportunity to ensure that Glasgow continues to thrive as a first class location for insurance and financial services.”
