First-tier Tribunal President appointed
Solicitor Alexander Green has been appointed as the President of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland, General Regulatory Chamber.
Mr Green, a graduate of St Andrews and Aberdeen Universities, qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales in 1993 and in Scotland in 1995. He was a partner in international law firm CMS Cameron McKenna until 2006, when he established his own solicitors’ practice, which he ran until 2018.
He sits as a fee paid judge in the Employment Tribunal (England & Wales) and the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration & Asylum Tribunal). In 2010 he was appointed Procurator Fiscal for the Court of the Lord Lyon. He is also an experienced mediator, and has previously worked as a tutor for the Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice for Robert Gordon University, a committee member for paralegal registration in Scotland, and as an external examiner for the Solicitors Regulation Authority assigned to the University of Law.
His Chamber President appointment took effect on 1 May 2019. The functions of the General Regulatory Chamber currently include appeals against decisions made by the Office of the the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
