Former Society president takes on new role

4th March 2015 | law society of scotland

Former President of the Law Society of Scotland, Bruce Beveridge, has joined thinkWhere, a specialist in the use of geographic information, as a non-executive director and chair.

Beveridge has extensive senior executive and board experience in a career which has included the Government Legal Service for Scotland and roles as Legal Secretary to the Lord President of the Court of Session, Deputy Keeper at Registers of Scotland and Head of Rural Communities at the Scottish Government. Bruce also sits as a charity trustee and runs his own consulting business.

thinkWhere is a leading independent Geographic Information System (GIS) consultancy, based in Stirling, with customers across the UK. It specialises in digital mapping, Open Source GIS and other spatial technologies.

Alan Moore, thinkWhere chief executive, said: “I am delighted to welcome Bruce as the chair of thinkWhere. Bruce will bring a strong mix of public and private sector experience with a focus on strategy, governance, innovation and delivery coupled with a real understanding of the issues and opportunities for land, property and location-based information services. Bruce will lead thinkWhere from strength to strength, supporting and challenging the company as it takes forward an ambitious business plan over the next five years. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Bob Jack, Bruce’s predecessor, for his highly valued contribution as an interim chair and non-executive director.”

Bruce Beveridge said: “I am thrilled to be joining thinkWhere at such a pivotal time. With the significant depth of experience and expertise of Alan and his team, allied to a strong commitment to innovation, thinkWhere is extremely well placed to make a significant contribution to this rapidly evolving sector. I am excited to have the opportunity to lead and support thinkWhere’s expansion and the delivery of its aspirations.”
