Glasgow School of Law ranked as UK number 2 in new ratings

25th July 2018 | education-training

Glasgow University's School of Law has been ranked as number 2 in a new UK guide, coming in ahead of Oxford, the London School of Economics and University College London, among others.

The ratings, published by the Complete University Guide in its subject tables for 2019, show four Scottish law schools and faculties in the UK top 10.

While Cambridge retains the top spot, with an overall score of 100 measured on a combination of entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects, Glasgow moves up three places to number 2 with a particularly high score on entry standards giving it a total of 97.2. Oxford scored less well in this factor to give a total of 97.0 and third place, the same score as LSE in fourth, both down one.

Aberdeen also shows impressively, up five places to number 5, as does Dundee, up eight to 8, while Edinburgh also retains a top 10 despite dropping three places to 10.

Other Scots rankings are 15 for Strathclyde (up from 24), 28 for Abertay (up from 30), 33 for Stirling (up from 49), 35 for Glasgow Caledonian (up from 47), 42 for Robert Gordon (down from 34), 76 for Edinburgh Napier (down from 65) and 97 for West of Scotland (unchanged) – the last two having no score available for research quality.
