Harper Macleod promotes two to partner
Legal firm Harper Macleod has promoted two associates to partner, in a move to boost its corporate and family law teams.
Stephen Chan, who joined the firm's Edinburgh office as an associate in December 2014, becomes the 14th partner in the corporate department. He has a wide range of experience in corporate and corporate finance work, including mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, joint ventures and public offerings. He has also been heavily involved in the use of different types of partnerships as specialist joint venture or investment vehicles and advising professional services firms on partnership matters.
Alexis Miller, who came to Harper Macleod in 2012 as an assistant, has extensive experience in all matters relating to family law, with a specialist interest in dealing with high value cases of financial provision on separation or divorce. She has also been involved in training professionals from other legal disciplines in relation to dealing with business and other financial interests in divorce or separation.
Chief executive Martin Darroch commented: "We have always been a place of opportunity for young lawyers and while good lateral hires have their place within the profession, it's always extremely pleasing when you are able to promote from within – and also a sign that the business is providing the best platform for talented people to thrive."
He added: "Both Stephen and Alexis have contributed significantly to our continued growth over the past few years and these promotions are thoroughly deserved."
