Healthy growth reported by Law At Work

11th November 2014 | practice management

Specialist employment and health & safety consultancy Law At Work Ltd has reported strong growth in its latest annual results.

Turnover in the financial year 2013-14, the second year since the firm became independent through a management buyout, increased by 12% to £2m, while pre-tax profit jumped by 58% to an undisclosed figure. The firm, which has a 27-strong team in offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, said this had been achieved through the attraction of more clients across the UK and the continued development of the services offered.

Chief executive Jane Wright said the business worked hard to provide a flexible and bespoke service.

“Clients tell us that our all-inclusive pricing with no hidden extras is refreshing and we believe this, combined with an approachable top quality team, has led to us attracting a number of high profile clients away from traditional law firms or health & safety providers", she commented. "We were very proud to be recognised as a finalist for the customer service category in the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Awards last month which is a reflection of our focus in this area.”

The health and safety division now incorporates a number of new specialist services including fire and construction, which enables it to offer support to higher risk and more complex businesses.

Ms Wright added: “While the market remains competitive and challenging, we are confident that we will continue to be successful. In the most recent year we managed our operating cost-base to invest in client facing roles. In the coming year we will continue to invest in people but also will actively reinvest profit back into the business to ensure we are fit for the future. We will prioritise all investment that benefits clients such as IT initiatives to enhance our client care and simplify our processes as well as investing in new premises in Edinburgh following client growth.”
