Is Scotland Fairer?
Some progress has been made over the past three years to make Scotland a fairer place. However, there are groups are in danger of being left behind.
These are the conclusions in a new report, Is Scotland Fairer? 2018, which has been released by The Equality and Human Rights Commission.
The report examines progress made towards greater fairness and equality in Scotland since 2015.
It looks at six 'domains' – justice, education, health, participation, work and living standards.
When it comes to justice the report identified people from the most deprived communities and people with a disability as the groups who had least confidence in the legal system.
The report highlights what it says are the biggest equality and human rights challenges for the years ahead. It also recommends actions to ensure everyone has a fair chance in life.
