Jennifer Henderson to be next Keeper of Registers

The next Keeper of the Registers of Scotland has been named as Jennifer Henderson, a senior civil servant. She succeeds Sheenagh Adams, who retires in March.

Ms Henderson has been with the civil service since 1994, most recently on a six month loan as a deputy director at the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, developing the department’s business plan and previously supporting the initial phase of the building safety programme established in response to the fire at Grenfell Tower. Prior to that she was a member of the executive at the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory, as operations director and then as transformation director.nIn parallel with these roles she was also a non-executive director on the board of Ploughshare Innovations Ltd. A Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, she is a chartered physicist.

Following the announcement, Ms Henderson commented: “I am delighted to be joining Registers of Scotland at such an exciting time for the organisation. RoS’s vision to become a fully digital business by 2020 is ambitious, and the team have already made great progress on this journey. I’m really looking forward to leading the team at RoS through its transformation into our digital future.”

The appointment was by the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, with the consent of the Lord President of the Court of Session.
