John Hamilton QC appointed to Scottish Legal Aid Board
Cabinet Secretary for Justice Michael Matheson has announced the appointment of John Hamilton QC as the Faculty of Advocates member to the Scottish Legal Aid Board.
Admitted to Faculty in 1998, Mr Hamilton is experienced in all aspects of criminal work including sentencing. Between 2003 and 2006 he was an advocate depute, and from 2009 to 2012 he was director of training and education at the Faculty of Advocates. He took silk in 2011.
Mr Hamilton is also a legal member of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland and of the Parole Board for Scotland, and a fee paid judge on the board for the Social Entitlement Chamber.
His new appointment will be for four years from 1 October 2016 to 30 September 2020. It attracts a remuneration of £218.56 per day for a time commitment of 42 days per year.
