Jon Snow and Helena Kennedy to head latest JUSTICE Scotland event
Veteran Channel 4 presenter Jon Snow will appear in conversation with Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, in the latest in the series of high profie events in support of JUSTICE Scotland.
Hosted by the Faculty of Advocates, the Beyond Law series is part of Securing JUSTICE at 60, an appeal through which JUSTICE, the law reform and human rights group, hopes to raise £2m by its 60th anniversary in 2017.
Mr Snow, who has presented Channel 4 News since 1989, will look back on four decades in journalism, with emphasis on covering law and justice issues, chatting with Dame Helena, who chairs the JUSTICE Council. The event takes place in the Laigh Hall, Parliament House, Edinburgh, on Friday 30 September from 4.30pm.
Previous events in the series have featured a discussion on the tensions between law and war, featuring General Sir Mike Jackson and Lord (Menzies) Campbell of Pittenweem QC, and then civil liberties campaigner Shami Chakrabarti reflecting on her career in conversation with Derek Ogg QC.
Dean of Faculty Gordon Jackson QC commented: “Securing Jon Snow for this event maintains the high standard of speaker which JUSTICE Scotland has attracted for its Beyond Law series. The Faculty is delighted to be a part of these evenings, which have been shown to have wide appeal.”
