Laura Irvine joins Davidson Chalmers as head of Regulatory
Commercial law firm Davidson Chalmers has recruited Laura Irvine as its 11th partner, to head its newly launched Regulatory team.
A data protection and cyber security specialist, Ms Irvine joins from BTO Solicitors where she was a partner. She authored the Law Society of Scotland’s guide to the new GDPR law, published earlier this year, and chaired the Society's series of GDPR roadshows prior to the law being introduced in May.
She is also a criminal solicitor advocate and former procurator fiscal depute, and has in-depth expertise in health & safety breaches, environmental breaches and corporate crime. She is a director of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre.
As head of Davidson Chalmers' new practice, she will lead a team supporting companies, and individuals, who find themselves involved in the criminal justice system where there is an ever-increasing focus on regulating how business is done.
Managing partner Andrew Chalmers commented: "Laura is a hugely talented, experienced and respected legal professional who brings added depth to Davidson Chalmers. Her appointment marks another exciting development in the growth of the firm, enabling us to provide the highest level advisory service for businesses on data protection matters and support for those involved in regulatory disputes.
"Laura’s appointment and the launch of the new Regulatory Team further underline our focus as a firm on providing specialist legal and commercial expertise in growth sectors of the Scottish market."
