Linlithgow by-election to be held for Society Council seat
A by-election is to be held in the Linlithgow constituency to fill a vacancy on the Law Society of Scotland's Council.
The previous member, Nyree Conway, resigned after deciding to leave legal practice. The term to be served following the by-election will be the five months until the constituency seat falls vacant under the three-year cycle of Council elections.
Solicitors having a place of business within the constituency, on the date six weeks before the date of the
election (Wednesday 17 December 2014) are eligible for nomination and to vote in the by-election.
This will be the first election to the Society's Council conducted under the single transferable voting system, adopted at the recent special general meting of the Society.
Nominations must reach the Society by 12 noon on Tuesday 25 November 2014. Papers are available from the returning officer, the Society's registrar, David Cullen.
