Lord Clark takes his seat on the bench
Alistair Clark QC was installed as a Senator of the College of Justice today, at a ceremony presided over by Lady Dorrian, the Lord Justice Clerk, heading a 14-strong bench.
His judicial title, Lord Clark, is not to be confused with Lord Clarke (Matthew Clarke), who recently resigned from the bench, or the currently serving judge Lady Clark of Calton.
The new judge initially followed a career as a lecturer at Strathclyde University, teaching mainly company and commercial law to LLB students and postgraduates. He was admitted as an advocate in 1994, and took silk in 2008.
Lady Dorrian said at the installation ceremony: “On behalf of the bench, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you as a Senator of the College of Justice.
“Your distinguished career at the bar and your background in academia enable you to bring to the bench many qualities derived from that experience and your extensive practice in civil and commercial litigation. They will surely help you adapt to the challenges this new role will bring.
“We hope you find this new stage in your career both enjoyable and fulfilling.”
Until his appointment Lord Clark was chair of the Faculty of Advocates’ International Committee. Garry Borland QC has been appointed his successor.
